You know this already.
None of this is a software problem yet. It is just Friday.
Orders that never got rung in. An M-Pesa code shown twice. A voided line nobody can explain. Most systems only tell you a month later.
The bottleneck isn’t the kitchen. It is the time between a diner deciding and someone writing it down.
Somebody sells a coconut curry with no coconut milk, and the table only finds out once the kitchen reads the ticket.
M-Pesa messages against paper receipts, card slips against the terminal, then a float that is short by a number nobody can explain.
The order becomes a record before it becomes a plate.
Your till or Paybill, the name M-Pesa will show and the exact amount, on the diner’s phone and on paper. They pay you directly, then enter the confirmation code from their SMS or show it to a waiter.
A waiting code is highlighted, blinks and chimes on the floor and till screens. Staff check it on your own M-Pesa, because fake confirmation messages exist. A code used before is refused, and one tab can be settled with several codes.
Grill, cold, bar — each on a display built to be read from two metres away and colour-coded as it ages. 86 an ingredient and every dish using it goes dark at once, on every phone in the room.
Diners order the second they are ready and settle when they want to leave. When they do need a person, one tap calls a waiter — routed to the assigned server, escalating by age if nobody responds.
Deposits are taken by card at the moment of booking, and refunded automatically when a guest cancels inside your window. No-shows forfeit, and the forfeiture is audit-logged.
Points are earned after coupons and only once the bill is paid, and redeemed at checkout from a minimum you set. Every receipt shows points earned and redeemed, with the rate.
Your M-Pesa money never touches us.
Diners pay your own M-Pesa till or Paybill. The money never passes through Tumikia, and we add nothing to it.
The diner enters the code from their SMS. Staff confirm it on your own M-Pesa before the kitchen sees the order, and a code used before is refused.
Card payments on the diner’s phone have 3-D Secure on every one, and settle to your M-Pesa or bank within 2 business days.
A camera and a browser. That is the entire requirement on their side.
eTIMS integration coming. VAT is calculated on every bill by your location’s VAT mode. eTIMS integration is coming, and isn’t switched on yet.
Four things a till with a QR code bolted on cannot do.
The diner scans and orders. Anything you have to convince someone to install, they won’t.
Diners pay your own till or Paybill. Cards on the diner’s phone, card terminals and cash sit on the same tab.
You reach your customers; you never hold their contact details. One fewer compliance surface for your business.
Most QR ordering is a utility bolted onto a till system, and it shows on the phone. Tumikia started at the table and worked backwards.
The three things owners say next.
Fair — and the reason is friction on the diner’s side, not yours. If scanning takes longer than talking to a waiter two metres away, they talk to the waiter. Tumikia was built diner-first: no app, no signup, photos and video instead of a PDF, and a bill that says exactly where to pay. Your dashboard reports your actual QR adoption rate, so you are looking at a number instead of a hope.
Not M-Pesa, and not cash. Diners pay your own till or Paybill, and that money never passes through Tumikia. Card payments on the diner’s phone are processed by our card partner and settle to your M-Pesa or bank within 2 business days, for from 2.5% per payment. M-Pesa, cash and card terminals cost nothing extra.
VAT is calculated on every bill according to your location’s VAT mode, and your KRA PIN is held at location level, which matters the moment you open a second branch. eTIMS integration is coming. It isn’t switched on yet, and we will tell you before it is.
What you actually get.
Questions we get about restaurants.
No. Tumikia opens in the phone’s browser when the diner scans the table QR code. No download, no account, no signup. Diners can create an account after paying if they want loyalty points, but ordering never requires one.
See it on your own menu.

One call, and if it isn’t for you that’s the end of it.
