Hotel room service and guest requests in Kenya

Every request from every room, in one place.

Tumikia gives a hotel one system for room service, guest requests and its restaurants & bars. Guests scan the QR in their room to order room service, read the hotel guide and ask the front desk for anything, in the browser with no download. The front desk sees every request by room, departments work them on shared tablets, and each of the hotel’s restaurants & bars runs as a full Tumikia restaurant.

Three details. We’ll set up one room, one department and the front desk, and walk you through a guest’s evening.

You know this already.

None of this is a software problem yet. It is just a full house.

A guest calls down for towels. Then calls again.

The request went on a pad at the desk, and the pad went off shift at ten.

Room service is a phone line and a paper ticket.

The order is read back, misheard, and walked to a kitchen already busy with the restaurant.

Your restaurants & bars each run something different.

So a guest’s evening across the bar and the restaurant shows up in three places, and in none of them properly.

Nobody can say how long anything takes.

Housekeeping, maintenance, the kitchen — everyone is quick, according to everyone.

What changes

The room becomes the front desk’s most reliable line.

Room service, the hotel guide and the front desk, on the guest’s own phone.
The guest room page
The guest’s room page is room service, the hotel guide and the front desk.

They scan the QR in the room and it opens in the browser, with nothing to download. Ordering room service, reading the guide and asking the front desk for anything are one tap each.

Front desk station
The front desk sees every request, by room, the moment it is made.

Departments work their requests like kitchen stations, on shared tablets that staff sign into with their PIN. Nothing lives on a pad or in somebody’s personal phone.

Hotel analytics
Your restaurants & bars run as full Tumikia restaurants.

Created from the hotel dashboard where your plan allows. Anyone with the right access moves between the hotel and its restaurants & bars in one click, and one People section holds the hotel’s users and staff.

Points at checkout
One loyalty programme across the hotel’s restaurants & bars.

Share a programme with the hotel’s own restaurants & bars, and invite partner restaurants to join it. Guests earn on what they actually paid and see every point on their receipt.

Built for here

Your M-Pesa money never touches us.

Straight to your till

Diners pay your own M-Pesa till or Paybill. The money never passes through Tumikia, and we add nothing to it.

Every code checked

The diner enters the code from their SMS. Staff confirm it on your own M-Pesa before the kitchen sees the order, and a code used before is refused.

Cards, settled in 2 days

Card payments on the diner’s phone have 3-D Secure on every one, and settle to your M-Pesa or bank within 2 business days.

No app for diners

A camera and a browser. That is the entire requirement on their side.

eTIMS integration coming. VAT is calculated on every bill by your location’s VAT mode. eTIMS integration is coming, and isn’t switched on yet.

Why this and not a till

Four things a till with a QR code bolted on cannot do.

No app. No signup. No download.

The diner scans and orders. Anything you have to convince someone to install, they won’t.

Your M-Pesa money never touches us.

Diners pay your own till or Paybill. Cards on the diner’s phone, card terminals and cash sit on the same tab.

The diner’s data stays with Tumikia.

You reach your customers; you never hold their contact details. One fewer compliance surface for your business.

Diner-first, not POS-first.

Most QR ordering is a utility bolted onto a till system, and it shows on the phone. Tumikia started at the table and worked backwards.

Straight answers

The three things hotels say next.

Guests will not scan a code in a hotel room.

They will if it is quicker than the phone. There is nothing to download and nothing to sign up for: the camera opens the room page, and room service, the guide and the front desk are one tap each.

Can guests just message us on WhatsApp?

Guests reach the front desk in the app, from their room page, so every request arrives with the room attached and a department to send it to. That is what lets the desk see every open request, and lets you see how quickly each department responds.

Our restaurants & bars already have systems.

Then start with room service and the front desk. Your restaurants & bars can move across one at a time, each as a full Tumikia restaurant created from the hotel dashboard where your plan allows.

Questions we get about hotels.

No. Guests scan the QR in their room and the room page opens in the phone’s browser. Room service, the hotel guide and front-desk requests are all on that page.
