Why Lord

“My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”(Matthew 27:46)

(“Whatʼs the point of life when it doesnʼt make sense, when God blocks all the roads to meaning?” Job 3:23 Message)

We should realize that until we get to heaven, there are some things we will never understand.

We should realize that God always sees the bigger picture and has the greater plan even when our circumstances seem impossible. God doesn't see through natural eyes but spiritual and desires more than the best for everyone.  Isaiah 55 verse 8 and 9 . Therefore we need:
  • To understand that it's hard to start to comprehend the way God thinks and how much thought he has put into absolutely everything he has said and done.
  • To understand that Nothing Just Happens, but everything does and will happen for a reason.
  • To know that God's love is far greater than any circumstance, any person, any problem we may face. Because there is nothing like Gods wisdom and knowledge.
  • To understand that God never promised a perfect life but he does promise he will be with you and give you strength no matter what situation you're going through, person you may face or circumstance that happens.  Isaiah40 verses 29-31

God allows "bad" things to happen; God does not cause them to happen. The reason bad things happens to us is because of the freedom God has given us and the choices people make, whether it is your choice or not. People's wrong thinking and wrong actions is what causes all Problems.
God may not take you out of that situation but he gives you the strength to go through it. The three main reasons God may not take you out of that situation is because
  • He has the greater plans and wants to give you understanding of the choices we make
  • Understanding of the control and influence of the situation (why people do the things they do), and how it can affect you
  • The greatest help we have through God to overcome the situation.

God designed the very fabric of the universe--from picking the charge on an electron and deciding how much mass/energy to create at the time of the Big Bang (assuming the cosmologists are right)--knowing beforehand what choices people would make. So ultimately He makes the best of the Holocaust and other awful events, but yes there is a reason (actually an infinity of reasons) that they had to happen.  If we want to spend eternity with God, and  if when we die we want to understand why He made the choices He did. Then we when we are in those bad days, we need to:
  • Think eternal: (Job 42:2) “I know that you can do all things; no plan of yours can be thwarted.” Believers who are in Christ have an eternal outlook on life. They have a big picture view that their life here on earth is temporary. They understand that life is so extremely short and that our existence in the flesh is just a training ground for our eternal life to come. Christians can think long-term. They can look ahead to the reward they will receive in the Heavenly Kingdom. From Moses (Hebrews 11:23-28) to even Jesus Himself (Hebrews 12:1-3), these endured great loss and suffering for a greater inheritance in Heaven.
  • Let go: (Job 42:3) “You asked, ʻWho is this that obscures my counsel without knowledge?ʼ Surely I spoke of things I did not understand, things too wonderful for me to know.” Meditation upon God's sovereignty enables us to enter into His rest with increased depth and consistency. We are called to passionately pursue the work God has for us, but we affront Him if we take responsibility for things that are in His control, not ours. We are called to holiness and obedience, but we are not justified by them. We are called to a life that radiates the conviction that God is in control, and that we are justified by faith.  Our hope rises above circumstances because God's grace transcends them. This hope empowers us to risk failure. Our security is not based on our performance, but on something that can never perish, spoil, or fade. Our hope frees us to rest.
  • Get close: (Job 42:5) “My ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you.” It is not the brilliant, luminous glory of God's appearance that humbles Job but God's power, intelligence, and wisdom revealed in the creation. This, combined with His right to do with it as He pleases, brings Job to understand how ignorant, puny, and base he is by comparison. Though among the most upright of men, all his life Job had held a wrong evaluation of himself in relation to God and other men. But when God allowed him to "see" himself, he was devastated, his vanity was crushed, and he repented. Only then could he really begin to love.
We must constantly turn to the one Source of true hope. We must get to know God. We must not allow our goal to become service for God. Our goal must be hunger for God Himself. Personal and corporate prayer, worship, and study of Scripture are an indispensable part of this. We must foster, cherish, and delight in our relationship with God. We must take time to be still before Him, to revel in the riches of His grace.

All what we need is Assurance

  • We need to be assured that God is there. The knowledge of God’s Sovereignty should frighten us.  I know that it is not popular today to fear God, but that’s exactly what the Bible tells us to do – FEAR GOD.  We imagine Him to be our homeboy, a dude, our pal, a good-ole-boy that likes us just the way we are.  But nothing could be farther from the truth.  God is Holy.  God is the Almighty.  Jesus is the Lord God Omnipotent.  He demands of us a life of repentance and faith.  Let us fear, lest any of us should seem to come short of it.  We must not live in a high-minded conceit, trusting in some shallow profession of faith; but we must earnestly seek assurance that God has favored us with new birth, shedding the love of God abroad in our hearts, causing us to love Him and His law, His people, His ways, and His word.  Those of us that have been blessed with the assurance of God’s working in us may bask in the sweetness of His love, and we may glorify Him, being the objects of His unmerited favor, having nothing in ourselves by which we may boast.
  • We need to be assured that God is never late. (Acts 16:25-26) When we're waiting on God to answer prayer, our timing and His timing are rarely the same. Sometimes it seems like God is in a different time zone altogether. We sometimes feel like we picked one of those numbers in the bureau of motor vehicle line and there are 78 others ahead in line. But we need God to wait on us--right away.   God has a perfect control over the times and events of our lives. His perfect power is able to order those events in our lives a loving and meaningful way. Despite our anxiousness, impatience, and worry, God is faithful to work in our lives at just the right time. He'll never be late.
  • We need to be assured that God knows best. (Hebrews 11:39-40)  Our Father knows what's best for us, So why should we complain ... We always want the sunshine, But He knows there must be rain. We love the sound of laughter And the merriment of cheer; But our hearts would lose their tenderness If we never shed a tear. Our Father tests us often With suffering and with sorrow; He tests us, not to punish us, But to help us meet "tomorrow." For growing trees are strengthened When they withstand the storm; And the sharp cut of the chisel Gives the marble grace and form. God never hurts us needlessly, And He never wastes our pain; For every loss He sends to us Is followed by rich gain. And when we count the blessings That God has so freely sent; We will find no cause for murmuring And no time to lament. For Our Father loves His children, And to Him all things are plain; So He never sends us "pleasure" When the "soul's deep need is pain." So whenever we are troubled, And when everything goes wrong, It is just God working in us To make "our spirits strong." ~ Helen Steiner Rice ~
  • We need to be assured that God cares. James 5:11 Message : In Matthew 6, the Lord Jesus Christ gives us the following thoughts to consider: "Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat and the body than raiment? Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? how well He cares for nature and the animals and wildlife which inhabit the earth, then how much more is His interest and care for His highest creation? How much more does He care for His most prized and valued possession? Sometimes we feel sorry for ourselves. We come down on ourselves pretty hard every once in a while. We may think no one cares for us ... that no one loves or likes us. But that simply is not true. That is a lie from the pits of hell.
