Our Bad Days

No matter how hard you try to make them otherwise, some days are just awful. They start off bad, they never get any better, and they end on a low and sometimes even gloomier note. These days befuddle your mind, waste your finite resources and throw your calendar off. Some people call the state of mind accompanying this day 'depression' or are content to simply think of it as 'having a bad day'. Sometimes there are logical explanations - mostly, though, these days seem to strike at will and we don't understand how or why they have entered our lives.

"Your worst days are never so bad that you are beyond the reach of God's Grace. And your best days are never so good that you're beyond the need of God's grace.

We all have those really good days and days that are just alright. But it never fails. We all seem to get targeted with days where waking up on the wrong side of the bed is an understatement. Despite the measures we take to prevent things from going wrong, we soon realize fate abandons our course and creates one of it's own. If you find yourself in the depth of the horrid 24, then it's important to know that you can change the way you look at those hours, days, months, and years to transform your entire life.

In our bad days we need to learn to redirect our negative emotions and feelings regarding the situation to something positive. Some call it "looking on the brighter side," and others call it "channeling." See, if we begin to channel our frustration and focus on something else with that much intensity your rain can turn into sunshine. No, it's not going to change what happened but it can change what you do in the future, what you've learned while you were in the situation and how you can better prepare yourself for success. We can even lend support for someone going through the same experience you did.

We need to begin to educate ourselves on ways of preventing those types of situations in the future. Even if we may have an "a", "b", or "c" in our plan, there is still no way of predicting "d." Let's say you are running late for work and you've just entered morning traffic. Nothing is going to change the fact that you're late but instead of using that time obsessing over how much traffic there is, you can educate yourself on possible routes to take should you find yourself running late again. Or even what you can do the night before to better prepare you for the morning commute. We also need to seek the right kind of support.

There are other situations we find ourselves in that are not easy to channel our attention away from and does require time and energy to fix. These situations are better spent deciding the best way to seek support to ensure our financial and emotional structures remain stable. It's important to seek help from those who have your best interest in mind. We need to stay clear of those who bring us down, use the "I told you so" speech, and those who make any attempt to judge us for what happened.

Life can blow an array of seasons into our life. However, if we can learn the seasons we can't control, and educate ourselves on preventing the ones we can; days can still get bad, but there won't be too many.
