BAD WORDS Kimani had a bad day after a bitter
divorce contest in court. Then as he went home he met Mwiiruri a born again and spirit- filled believer
who talks to God and believes God answers him. This day Kimani accidentally got into an ‘argument’
with Muiruri who he didn’t know he was fighting with until he was literally in his face. Muiruri
was ticked because Kimani made a throw away comment to a friend that the best thing about living an adult
life is being able to choose to sleep in on Sundays instead of wasting his time at church. Mwiiruri took
offense to this, and got mad, of course, and taps Kimani - hard- on the shoulder saying, “I’m
sorry, I thought I heard you say that it’s a waste of time to go to church and praise the Lord
on Sunday. Although Kimani could have just said, “Yes, I hear
you but I don’t want to get into an argument so please let it go,” that’s not what
he said. What he said was, “If you tap me one more time, I will throw you out of your holiness to hell and let those
demons devour you like hungry lions” Well it progressed from there and wherever it went heaven knows. You can also guess.
“You can close your eyes to the things you do not want to
see, but you cannot close your heart to the things you do not want to feel”
I
know there have been times when I've hurt my friends, spouse, parents, children with careless words that I spoke without thinking,
or those that accidentally slipped out in a moment of anger. They've done the same to me. But there are people who deliberately
use words as weapons, with the intent of inflicting as much emotional injury as possible. The things they say don't just feel
like a slap in the face; they feel like a knife twisting in the gut.
Most of us gossip without
giving it any thought whatsoever. Yet, its effects can be so damaging and full of impact Words that hurt can destroy our spirit and can stay
in our minds for a lifetime. Healing words can renew our spirit and encourage us for a lifetime. But in this time of troubles hurting
words are taking over. Please do not let them win.
