Born to a privileged life of the Jaramogi Odinga dynasty, we learn of Raila's
upbringing and his education, including his engineering studies in East Germany, where he followed the events of the Cold
War with strong sympathy for the communist cause. His father was Kenya’s initial Vice-President before being side-lined
by President Jomo Kenyatta for his personal ambitions. . Drawn to socialist activism during the Cold War, Raila became a canny
leader in private enterprise and now he has reinvented himself as a liberal democrat. We Know that following Kenyatta’s death in August 1978, Raila and Jaramogi moved to establish an alternative
political party to challenge the ruling KANU. Then the then President Moi responded by passing legislation outlawing the registration
of alternative political parties. But on 31 July 1982 a group of junior military men in the Kenyan Air Force, who were predominantly
Luo in origin, launched a coup attempt designed to wrest power from the Moi regime. The attempt was foiled and while the putshchists
claimed they had intended to set up a purely military political leadership, the Odingas were suspected of involvement. Raila
himself has indicted that he supported the failed coup attempt launched by members of Kenya’s military forces. Developments reveal Raila as having chameleonic ability to reposition both himself and
his allies to take full advantage of changing political currents. When the Forum for the Restoration of Democracy (FORD),
which Jaramogi and Raila helped to create, was registered as a political party it helped Raila win the seat of Lang’ata
in Nairobi as a FORD candidate in 1992. Following his father’s death in January 1994, Raila's chamelionic nature
was evident as he left a fracturing FORD to assume the reins of the National Development Party and retains Lang’ata
in a bi-election. Even though he was a steadfast critic and persecuted victim of the Moi regime, Raila desire to achieve his
political ends pushed him to enter an alliance with the Kanu Government. Following
the 1997 election, Raila political acrobatics and chamelionic nature was evident when he started aligning his party with Moi’s
ruling KANU party, then bringing about a complete merger, then leading a rebellion in the lead-up to the 2002 elections that
had the effect of torpedoing Moi’s future dynastic designs. When things turned sour, he saw that his personal ambition
were not being achieved and hence joined others in the victory of President Mwai Kibaki in 2002. Systematically trying
to achieve his ambitions, Raila campaigned against Kibaki’s proposals for constitutional reform, securing a resounding
"no" vote in the 2005 referendum. Raila Odinga himself acknowledges that he has been criticized for changing political
parties, This depicts him as a desperate adversary who would stop at nothing to achieve his political ends. This is more clear of Raila with what happened in Mombasa during an ODM meetting.
It was well document that all hell broke lose when Raila stepped forward to address the crowd who punctuated every other sentence
with a resounding shout of "Nyundo." He then introduced Kalonzo Musyoka who immediately ran into problems as he
was drowned out by shouts of "Nyundo" most of which were coming from the front section of the crowd. This was a
well programmed incident. Raila's Hummer(Like Nothing Else) seemed to have brought him what he wanted most...some airtime.... and he has surely gotten that. With the steadmand group
opinion polls placing him above Kalonzo, we see Raila feeling like the battle has been won. Raila's
chamelionic nature has made him use the publicity he is getting now to really push Kalonzo out of the way. THIS HE HAS
DONE VERY WELL. Lastly are the events sorrounding the memorandum of understanding with the Muslims. This has brought
a lot of confusion to so many people and Raila seems confused as what to tell Kenyans about this MOU. This has led to circulation
of this letter BELOW and other denominations have asked questions as indicated by writing posted on this website.
Kenya: Raila: I didn’t sign any deal with Muslims 04-11-2007 By
SIMON SIELE and GEORGE OMONDI Nairobi, (Daily Nation): ODM presidential candidate Raila Odinga on Sunday denied
having signed a memorandum of understanding with the Muslim community. He said he only met Muslim leaders who raised complaints
about constant harassment whenever their faithful sought identity cards, passports and employment. "Some
people have claimed that I signed an MoU with the Muslims but there is no such a deal since their leaders only came to me
to register their complaints about constant harassment and discrimination against them," Mr Odinga said.
Addressing the faithful at Deliverance Church in Nakuru, Mr Odinga said Christians should not be worried that he had
signed a secret deal with Muslims "because I too am a Christian and a member of the Anglican Church." "I told the Muslim community not to worry because their rights will be recognised by the ODM government and
there is no need for me to sign any MoU with the Christians because I am one of them." Mr Odinga said his
concerns were largely in regard to complaints by the Muslim community, noting that the ODM government would ensure all Kenyans
enjoy constitutional rights irrespective of their creed or religion. "We want to assure every Kenyan that we shall
respect all their rights and as a Christian, I am committed to follow its teachings which demand that we should love one another
at all times," said the outgoing Lang’ata MP. Mr Odinga accused some religious leaders of taking sides in
the ongoing campaigns arguing that they were influencing their worshippers to support certain political parties and called
on Kenyans to be wary of such people. He criticised the Government over deportation of eight Kenyans suspected to have been
implicated in acts of terrorism, arguing that they should have been tried in Kenya.

Muslims Story by NATION Reporter and Correspondent Publication Date: 11/8/2007 ODM Presidential candidate Raila Odinga has an agreement with Muslims,
after all. Touching on the issue
that has generated heated debate in the country, Mr Odinga declared that he had never contradicted himself over the pact with
Muslims. Instead, the outgoing Lang’ata MP blamed the media — specifically the Nation —
for the turn of events over the memorandum of understanding with Muslims in the country. "I never denied that we have
an understanding with Muslims. I never made such denials in Nakuru and what is being hyped is a creation of the Nation,"
he said on the phone. Mr
Odinga kicked off the debate on November 1 at Kasarani during a meeting with women when he said that he had entered into a
pact with Muslims to support his election bid. He said: "I want to announce that I signed a memorandum with the Council
of Imams three days ago." The announcement was questioned by Evangelical churches who demanded
that Mr Odinga makes public the MoU with Muslims. Shock and disbelief But
on November 4, Mr Odinga went to Bishop Mark Kariuki’s Celebration Centre in Nakuru and reportedly stated that he had
not signed any pact with Muslim leaders. The Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims expressed "shock
and disbelief" at the denial. Secretary-general Adan Wachu said they had been kept in the dark about the deal between
Mr Odinga and "hand-picked" Muslim leaders. In Lamu, Imam Mahfudh Mohamed said those talking about the MoU had not revealed its contents.
"These MoUs are irrelevant because we have a place to fall back to. All the claims about President Kibaki not being sensitive
to our issues was mere propaganda that should not be taken seriously," the Imam said. Tana River district Muslims demanded
an apology from colleagues who signed the secret deal ‘‘for selfish motives’’. "How could they
have made an agreement without consulting other Muslims?" asked Sheikh Idris Bakero, Council of Imams and Preachers of
Kenya district secretary who read the statement.
Kenyan Opposition Leader Under Fire for Signing a Pact and Denying it By
Peter Clottey Washington, D.C. 09 November 2007 "There are two things here; one is
that if there was a deal that was made between Raila and the Muslims, people would want to understand, what kind of deal was
entered. Is it the kind of memorandum of understanding that would give the Muslims the upper hand against other religious
groups in this country? That is very, very sensitive. Two, now that Raila is denying, that touches on his integrity. How can
he sign a memorandum of understanding with the Muslims and then he deny? People would then ask what kind of president would
we have who denies things that are clear and that are known?" asked Mbatia. He said the controversy surrounding the signing
of a Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) between Odinga and the Muslims could potentially hurt the opposition leader in December’s
poll. "Certainly he has not gained mileage in the interim because in today’s newspapers, Raila admits that
there was a deal between him and the Muslims. But much earlier he had in a way refused to accept that, so you can see he has
now changed his stands because the Muslims had said for their part that they are willing to diverge the deal that they entered
with him," he said. Mbatia explained that Odinga had given Kibaki supporters ammunition to fire at the opposition leader
as campaigns continue ahead of next month’s vote."What comes out clear is that at least an MOU was signed, and
neither the Muslims nor Raila are willing to tell us what kind of pact it was. It is controversial, and it is likely to be
used by PNU (Party of National Unity) supporters to discredit the character and the integrity of Raila as a presidential candidate,"
Mbatia pointed out. He noted that it has always been the norm for Kenyan politicians to blame the media when things
don’t seem to go their way. "I would say that, that is not uncharacteristic of Kenyan politicians. When they are
pushed to the wall the first to be blamed is the media. So, it is not surprising that Raila is saying that he was misquoted
and misreported. It is a sensitive issue and the nation appears to be hell-bent to prove that he did not tell the truth,"
he said.1. Muslims disown ‘leaked’ memorandum of understanding with Presidential candidate Amidst controversy
over a secret memorandum of understanding signed between presidential candidate Raila Odinga and Muslim leaders, purported
copies of the contract are in circulation in Nairobi and by email. CISA obtained a copy containing a raft of pledges Odinga
allegedly made to Muslims on August 29. The document is signed by him and Sheikh Abdullahi Abdi, chairman of the National
Muslim Leaders Forum. But Sheikh Abdi, who said he has seen the document, dismissed it as a forgery, adding that, in
this era of advanced information technology, it was very easy to reproduce a person’s signature. He told CISA that he
and other Muslim leaders had worked closely with the Catholic Church and other Christians in fighting for the rights of Kenyans.
He would not be party to a scheme to curtail the rights of others as claimed in the document. Odinga’s pledges,
according to the copy in our possession, include creation of two semi-autonomous regions fully controlled by Muslims at the
Coast and North-eastern Kenya. The regions shall be under the Islamic law, or Shariah. Odinga’s Orange Democratic
Movement (ODM) party has promised to introduce federalism, known here as Majimbo. While, media reports have quoted him
confirming that he signed an MOU with Muslims, Odinga has not divulged the details - even after being pressured by evangelical
churches. The document says Odinga, whose religious affiliation is unknown, "recognizes Islam as the only true religion"
while the Muslim signatories acknowledge him "as the only candidate who has the interests of the Muslim community
at heart." The Muslims offer to "campaign vigorously" and to "deploy all resources at their
disposal" to ensure his resounding victory in the December 27 general election. If he wins, Odinga on his part pledges
to re-instate and protect the rights of Muslims "who have been oppressed and discriminated against by the current and
previous governments." He shall "within six months re-write the Constitution of Kenya to recognize Shariah as the
only law sanctioned by the Holy Quran for Muslim declared regions." His government shall: - establish Sharia courts
throughout Kenya, - popularize Islam at the Coast and North Eastern regions by enforcing compulsory Muslim classes
in primary schools there, and - impose a ban on open-air preaching "by worshippers of the cross" in the regions.
The ODM government shall also outlaw Christian programmes on public radio and prohibit sale of alcohol in Muslim majority
towns. There shall be a ban on women’s dressing that is considered offensive to Muslims in the regions controlled by
followers of the faith.

MOMBASA, November 5 - Muslims have now taken ODM presidential candidate Raila Odinga to task over his denial
of having signed a Memorandum of Understanding(MOU) with them. The Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims (SUPKEM) Secretary
General Sheikh Aden Wachu said on Monday that Raila is on record having said that he had signed a secret MOU, following a
meeting with Muslim Leaders Forum at Kasarani on the 1st of September. Addressing a media conference attended by several Muslim
scholars in Mombasa, Wachu said Muslims were not going to let the personal whims of any leader meddle with their beliefs and
principles. Raila on Sunday denied signing any MOU with Muslim Leaders. "As
Muslims, we are shocked, quite pleasantly beyond words for Raila to publicly disown any agreement that agreed on a secret
pact between him and some Muslim leaders," said Wachu. The SUPKEM official said Raila's denial of a treaty with a
section of Muslim leaders on Sunday has thrown Muslim community into utter consternation. "Who is then fooling who? Is
it Raila or our Muslim leaders? Could this, after all, be yet another potentially injurious, ill intended, and indeed, nefarious
scheme aimed at poisoning some segments of our society," queried Wachu. Wachu has therefore urged Kenyans, whichever
faith they subscribe to, to be wary of such incidents. The alleged
MOU with the Muslims has previously been met with condemnation from other religious organizations and societies. But on Sunday
Raila claimed he had only met Muslim leaders who raised complaints about constant harassment whenever their faithful sought
identity cards, passports and employment. The ODM Presidential candidate said his concerns were largely in regard to complaints
by the Muslim community, and noted that an ODM government would ensure all Kenyans enjoy their constitutional rights, irrespective
of creed or colour.
Clerics Ask Raila to Reveal His Pact With Muslims
The Nation (Nairobi) 15 November 2007 Posted to the web 14 November
2007 Nairobi Church leaders on Wednesday asked ODM presidential
candidate Mr Raila Odinga to make public the pact he signed with Muslim leaders. The leaders under the Ufungamano Initiative
said that it would be prudent for Mr Odinga to make public the Memorandum of Understanding and clear the anxiety and dangerous
speculation already in the public. They further cautioned presidential candidates against entering into any pacts with religious
organisations. They said that in case this happens, the deal should be revealed to the public immediately. Dr Wellington Mutiso,
the initiative's acting chairman, said important debates require that politicians conduct themselves in an open and transparent
manner to foster peace, trust and confidence with the public. "The authenticity or non-authenticity of this MoU cannot
be confirmed by Ufungamano Initiative, the parties to the MoU bear the responsibility of doing so. It is, however, undisputed
that Mr Odinga and Namlef (National Muslim Leaders Forum) have signed an MoU. The contents of that MoU have not been made
public by either party despite the fact that many Kenyans have asked for that to be done," he said. Dr Mutiso said failure
by both parties to release the true pact would make Kenyans believe that the one in circulation was indeed a genuine copy

We, the young Muslims of NAMLEF read with dismay the denial of Raila Odinga contained in yesterday's newspapers
that he signed an M.O.U with our leadership. Is he claiming that Sheikh Abdillahi Abdi, Sheikh Mohamed Dor and Others have
told lies? Is he claiming that our publication, The Friday Bulletin and the NAMLEF pamphlet is telling lies? The Holy Quran,
S ii 204 to 207 has warned us of this type of man. We will not sit back while Raila trashes our teachers who welcomed him
with open arms and he now casts them as liars unfit to lead us. We have attached a copy of the M.O.U that Mr Raila Odinga
wishes to deny after securing the support of our leaders. We challenge him to deny that he signed it because we have all the
evidence we need even to take it to a court of law. Please do not take us for granted, we are not a stepping stone to power. Behold the words of The Holy Quran, s lxxvii 15-19.

LET THE TRUTH BE TOLD THE ODM PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE, RAILA ODINGA, HAS
ENTERED INTO A SECRET MOU WITH A SECTION OF KENYAN MUSLIMS. THESE MUSLIMS, WITH THE SUPPORT OF THEIR BROTHERS FROM THE
ARAB WORLD, WILL SUPPORT RAILA’S PRESIDENTIAL BID IN THIS YEAR’S ELECTION, 2007, AND IN 2012 WHEN HE SEEKS RE-ELECTION
FOR HIS FINAL TERM AS PRESIDENT. IN RETURN, RAILA HAS PROMISED TO INTRODUCE MAJIMBO ONCE HE GETS TO POWER. AFTER THE INTRODUCTION
OF MAJIMBO, THE COAST JIMBO WILL DECIDE THAT THEY WOULD LIKE TO OPERATE AS AN ISLAMIC STATE. THIS WILL THEN BE FOLLOWED BY
THE NORTH EASTERN JIMBO WHO WILL ALSO DEMAND TO BE AN ISLAMIC STATE. THIS, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, WILL SEE THE BEGINNING
OF A DETERMINED QUEST TO TURN THE WHOLE OF KENYA INTO AN ISLAMIC STATE AN ACT THAT THE HON.RAILA ODINGA HAS SWORN TO HIS MUSLIM
BROTHERS TO SUPPORT TO THE HILT. COME 2017 AND WITH THE ODINGA PRESIDENCY COMING TO AN END, ! THE MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING
STATES THAT POWER WILL NOW SHIFT TO THE MUSLIMS THROUGH NAJIB BALALA. AS IS EVIDENCED BY THIS MOU THE MUDAVADI VICE PRESIDENCY
IS JUST A PLOY TO GET THE LUHYA VOTE AND NOT TO HAND OVER TO MUDAVADI, SOMEONE WHO RAILA DESPISES AS A SPINELESS INDIVIDUAL
WHO IS EASILY SWAYED AND HAS NO ABILITY TO RULE. BALALA STEPPING DOWN FOR RAILA DURING THE ODM PRESIDENTIAL NOMINATIONS
IN KASARANI WAS NOT AN ACCIDENT BUT A WELL CALCULATED MOVE BY A GROUP OF PEOPLE INTENT ON IMPOSING THEIR WAY OF LIFE UPON
MILLIONS OF UNSUSPECTING KENYANS. WHY ELSE DID RAILA REFER TO ALLAH AS THE GOD OF KENYA? THE FREQUENT AND VICIOUS ATTACKS
ON KALONZO MUSYOKA BY NAJIB BALALA WERE DRIVEN BY NAJIB’S FEARS THAT A KALONZO PRESIDENCY WOULD DERAIL THEIR WELL LAID
OUT PLANS DUE TO KALONZO’S STRONG CHRISTIAN BACKGROUND. THIS IS WHAT LED NAJIB TO SWEAR THAT HE WOULD NEVER VOTE FOR
A NON REFORMER EVEN IF HE CLINCHED THE ODM PRESIDENTIAL TICKET IN A FAIR CONTEST. R! AILA’S WEAK RELIGIOUS BACKGROUND,
COUPLED WITH HIS OPEN GREED FOR THE PRESIDENCY, WAS SEEN AS THE EASIEST WAY BY NAJIB AND HIS ISLAM EXTREMISTS TO ACHIEVE THEIR
SINISTER GOALS. NAJIB’S OFTEN REPEATED CRY OF "TUNATAKA MABADILIKO" MEANS EXACTLY THAT. A CHANGE IN OUR
LIVES AS WE KNOW AND BELIEVE, TO LIVING A LIFE ACCORDING TO THEIR WAYS AND BELIEFS. THEIR DETERMINATION TO INSTALL THE BOMAS
DRAFT, PRINCIPALLY BECAUSE IT CALL FOR THE ENTRENCHMENT OF THE KADHIS COURTS IN OUR CONSTITUTION, IS AS STEADFAST AS THEIR
BELIEF THAT IT IS HONOURABLE TO DIE FOR ONES RELIGION.
ENTER 2018, ENTER NAJIB BALALA. AS IN THE EARLY YEARS OF
THE ODINGA PRESIDENCY, NAJIB’S ENTRY WILL BE MARKED WITH THE CLAMOR, BY THE COAST, FOR SHARIA LAW FOR THEIR JIMBO. THIS
WILL BE CLOSELY FOLLOWED BY THE SAME CALLS COMING FROM THE NORTH EASTERN JIMBO. ONCE THESE TWO ARE SAFELY UNDER SHARIA LAW,
AGAIN THE QUEST TO TRANSFORM KENYA TO BE UNDER SHARIA LAW WILL BEGIN IN ERNEST. THIS WILL BE NAJIB! BALALA ’S SOLE AIM
AS THE 5TH PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF KENYA, AN AIM THAT RAILA HAS STATED IN THE SECRET MOU THAT HE WILL AGAIN DO EVERYTHING
IN HIS POWERS TO HELP ACHIEVE.
IT IS INDEED UNFORTUNATE THAT AN INDIVIDUALS HUNGER FOR POWER CAN LEAD HIM TO SELL
HIS OWN COUNTRY AND FAITH TO A GROUP OF PEOPLE WHO’S ONLY AIM IS TO TRANSFORM KENYA, AND THE WORLD, INTO AN ISLAMIC
STATE UNDER SHARIA LAW AND TO IMPOSE THEIR WILL ON OTHER PEOPLE.
FUTURE GENERATIONS OF KENYANS, OUR CHILDREN INCLUDED,
WILL NEVER FORGIVE OUR GENERATION FOR MAKING DECISIONS THAT WILL EVENTUALLY RENDER THEM SLAVES OF OTHERS, SIMPLY BECAUSE WE
COULD NOT SEE THROUGH THE LIES THAT ARE CURRENTLY BEING FED TO US.
LET US STAND UP AND DEFEND OUR COUNTRY. MAY
THE ALMIGHTY GOD BLESS US ALL, MAY THE ALMIGHTY GOD BLESS OUR

Church leaders in Kenya have cautioned faith groups against
forging alliances with candidates in forthcoming presidential elections after an opposition contender for the country's
top post said he had signed an agreement with Muslim leaders. "When you sign a pact with one, you exclude the others.
This can be very divisive," Anglican Bishop Eliud Wabukala of Bungoma in western Kenya told Ecumenical News International
on 14 November. "This is not good for democracy." The
concerns of the Christian leaders follow an announcement by Raila Odinga, the presidential candidate for the Orange Democratic
Movement, that he had signed an agreement with Muslim leaders, after earlier denying this was the case. Odinga is seen
as President Mwai Kibaki's main rival in the president election to be held on 27 December. The opposition politician said on 13 November that he intended to make public details of
the memorandum of understanding he signed with a group of Muslim leaders. He dismissed as "propaganda", however,
a document available on the Internet according to which he had agreed with the National Muslim Leaders Forum that,
if he became president, he would rewrite Kenya's constitution to recognise Sharia, or Muslim law, in Muslim regions. "I
signed an MOU with the Muslims, but what I signed is very harmless." Odinga told journalists in Nairobi. "What has
been going around on the Internet is propaganda." Bishop
Wabukala, who is also chairperson of the National Council of Churches of Kenya, warned that religion should be kept
separate from electioneering. "Faith matters should not be used for political gains," he said. An estimated 10 percent
of Kenya's 37 million people are Muslim, while 78 percent are Christian
